Hi! I’m Amanda Blakeslee, a Director of Engagement here at C.A. based in Jacksonville, Florida. I work remotely and am here to tell you all about my typical workday!
The first thing I usually do after waking up in the morning is go to yoga at 6:00 a.m. I then get my two children ready for the school day and out the door typically around 7 – 8 a.m. After dropping them off, I make my coffee and dive into work around 8:30 a.m. CST.
Throughout the day, I answer emails and have a lot of internal connections via Teams. I would say, my favorite part about my job is the creativity I can have when I need to solve a client’s problem. My position also involves mentoring a couple of Sales Development Managers around expansions, budgeting, and commissions. Since I am remote and not in an office, I love meeting with clients 1:1 to touch bases weekly and talk strategy, up-to-date goals, and planning for the future.
I take walks outside when I need to get creative and brainstorm in the afternoon. Once I’m back at my desk I build out my plan of action. I love being able to solve problems in a unique way with an actionable plan. I view my internal role as highly important so staying on top of everything and keeping my clients happy is of big importance to me.
For lunch, I go for a walk on the beach or eat with my husband who works in an office. Soon after that, I’m back to answering emails and getting into the busier half of my day. Typically, in the afternoon I have plenty of meetings with clients.
I always make sure to schedule meetings before 4:00 p.m. so I can wrap up my day. I’m very diligent about finishing my workday around 5:00 p.m. so I’m present for my family and establish healthy work boundaries. I’m very upfront and personable with my clients and the people I work with, so they know when my day ends.
Once my children come home from their sporting events, I make sure they have their homework done. Being a remote employee here at C.A. has given me the flexibility to be present for my kids at home and be able to go to their school functions and events. It’s so fulfilling to be there for my children and prioritize my family while enjoying what I do for a living.
We make dinner as a family, eat around 6:00 p.m., and watch Survivor before my husband and I put the kids to bed around 7:30 p.m. Once all the chaos has settled, we enjoy watching TV series together. Right now, we are currently watching Ted Lasso, but we love crime series and cop dramas as well!
